About us
Royal Octopus 5 stars Dive Centre, formed in 2018. The center is an official Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) dive centre, located in Kolymbari, just 20 km west of Chania. Our experienced instructors with many years of combined diving experience will help you to enter this new world with safety, confidence and FUN. With over 70% of our world’s surface being covered with water, learning to dive can introduce you to a whole new life where you can experience the wonders of the underwater world. There are a variety of programmes available for adults and children whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced, certified diver. PADI qualifications are internationally recognised and include a wide range of specialities such as night dives, cave diving and many more which, when completed, could enable you to dive or even work as a professional diving instructor anywhere around the world.
Activities can be arranged for individuals, groups or families and take place at several sites around the beautiful Rodopou Peninsula in the north-west of Crete. All activities and prices include full insurance, equipment, transportation to and from your accommodation and the services of our fully – qualified and highly – experienced instructors. With our SCUBAPRO equipment, PADI accredited courses and friendly staff you will feel totally safe and free to enjoy the undersea world – and just have fun with us.

If you have ever wondered what is like to breathe underwater and to stay there for a long time and you want to discover a magnificent new world then this programme is for you. Scuba diving is much easier than you think and the Discover Scuba Diving programme prepares you with all the knowledge and skills you need enjoy diving in complete safety. At the start of the day there is a short theory session covering basic safety and familiarisation with the equipment. Once you are fitted with your equipment then we go to a nearby shallow water area to practise some of the basic skills. Once everyone is comfortable and happy then we go for a dive in the open sea for approximately 30-60 minutes and to a maximum depth of 12 meters. The price includes transport to and from your hotel, insurance, equipment and light snack with water.

This PADI course is for children aged from 8 – 10 years who want to try scuba diving. Diver’s first certification. As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world,you will be able to dive with another certified diver up to 18 meters,whenever you like. 2 days with theory, to develope knowledge development in classroom,confined water for skills practice and 4 open water dives. You must be older than the age of 14 years to begin the PADI Open Water Diver program. For those of you who are not above the age of 14 years and would like to participate in the PADI Open Water Diver Program, then the PADI Jr Open Water Diver program is available to you.A PADI Junior Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 11 years may only dive with a PADI Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet.

Advanced Open Water

After being a certifierd Open Water diver,you can move to Advance O.W.diver to advance your diving knoeledge and skills.You will have to complete 5 adventure dives.The 2 of them are deep dive,up to 30 meters and underwater navigation by using a compass.If you complete any three adventure dives, you can earn your PADI Adventure Diver certification.The other depends on your interests, and you have to choose between cavern diver, night diver,enriched air diver ,boat diver and many more. Minimum age: 15 (12 for PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)

Rescue Diver

Learns you to prevent and manage problems in the water and become more confident about your diving skills.Prepares you for any underwater emergencys,major or minor.You are practicing with theory in class and through diving accidents scenarios.Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months. The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements.

Boat Trips
Boat Diving/Snorkeling trips to Afrata, Menies, Heronisia, Thodorou or further around Rodopou peninsula. Departure is from Kolymbari port. Departure times can be 09:30 – 14:30 or 15:00 – 19:00. Or we can make your Private trip. Our 9 meters plastic boat is very comfortable and the capacity is for 13 passengers.

Meet Panos
Panagiotis (Panos) is the owner of Royal Octopus Dive Centre. He was born in Athens in 1968. Having joined the Greek Navy in 1986 he become a Navy Diver in 1989. His training from Greek and international divers in many dive techniques including Deep Diving, Salvage, Search and Rescue, Anti Terrorism Attacks and Dive Safety. He served in the Navy for 26 years, 22 as a Navy Diver includes his service in U.N. in missions in North and South Sudan. He is very experienced and has such a love of diving that he wanted to share this with others and decided to become a PADI Dive Master in 2009.
